Doodly Review

Brief summary

Doodly is a program to create videos on the board using the drag and drop interface. It seems that the final product was shot as if someone had painted everything by hand. Some people call this video "explanatory" because they are often used to create videos about products, educational topics, or business pieces of training.

I spent a few days doing extensive testing to get an idea of the program and its features. You can watch the video with the VOD Tag I made here. It does not tell a story or use special marketing tactics; its main goal was to use as many features as possible, rather than create a technical marvel. I found that most of the features were easy to understand, although I have several complaints about the program's layout

If you want to use the program to create promotional, educational or promotional videos, you have the right platform at your fingertips. However, this program is not intended for people with a small budget, and people who are not associated with large companies that carry the costs will probably want to consider an alternative.

DO YOUR BEST

WHAT I LIKE

The program is easy to learn.

Great font options ready.

Ability to add multiple audio tracks.

Import your Media-even fonts!

WHAT I DON'T LIKE

No built-in voice function.

A weak free audio library, even with higher subscription levels.

The interface can be difficult to use.

Stupid (1.13.3)

Overall ranking: 3.6 of 5ind

I am primarily a consumer, just like you. My Hobb in the creative world made me try many programs that offer tools for videos or animations (see this animation review on the board I did). Whether it's a paid program or an open source project, I have personal experience learning programs from scratch.

Like you, I often have no idea what to expect when I open a program. I have personally experienced Doodly for a few days so I can provide a first hand report with clear language and details. Here you can watch a short animated video I made with Doodly

I believe that users like you have the right to understand the pros and cons of a program without excessive costs, especially for a software Although it offers a 14-day refund policy, it would be easier to read what others have to say about the product before using a credit card to make a purchase.

For this, you need this review. We purchased the Platinum version ($59 if you pay monthly) from our budget to assess how powerful the program is. You can see the proof of purchase below. After the purchase, an email was immediately sent with the subject line " w In the email, we got access to the link for Doodly do

In addition, I also reached out to the Doodly support team to ask a simple question to assess the usefulness of customer service, which you can read more about in the "causes of my feedback and ratings" section below.

Fuck Frequently Asked Questions

What does Doodle Mean?

Doodly is a drag-and-drop animation program to create movies that look as if someone had drawn them on a whiteboard.

This is an increasingly common video style that has proven to be very effective. You can use Doodly to create videos for a wide range of customizations, from business materials to school projects. Its main features are as follows::

Start recording videos without the necessary experience

Library of photos and sounds from stock; no need to create your own Media

Edit video by changing scenes, appearance and media style

Export video in different resolution and frame rate combinations

Is It Doodly Safe?

Yes, Doodly is a safe software Doodly function works only with your computer to import or export files, and both actions are performed only when you specify them.

Is It Doodly Free?

No, Doodly is not free and does not offer a free trial (but this review should give you a good idea of backstage). They have three different pricing plans that can be charged monthly or monthly as part of an annual contract.

The cheapest plan is called" Zloty The Platinum plan is $ 30 per month per year and $ 59 if you pay one month at a time. The two plans are largely separated by the number of resources that can be accessed and do not offer commercial rights. If you want to sell the Movies You Make in Doodly  sembra does not seem to offer bulk licensing discounts or education discounts.

How To Get Doodly?

After purchasing Doodly After clicking on the link, it will create a DMG file (for Mac). Double-click on it as soon as it is launched and you can open the program by following one or two steps of the installation process. The first time you open Doodly Then you will have access to the entire program.

Accurate control and test results

Doodly ha has a wide range of skills, but most can be broken down into four main types: media, audio, editing, and exporting. I checked all the functions I found in the program and you will be able to see all the results here. Keep in mind, however, that Doodly offers both Mac and PC versions, which means my screenshots may look a little different from yours. For testing, I used a mid-2012 MacBook Pro.

When you open Doodly

The whiteboard and whiteboards are obvious, but the third option, Glassboard, is a bit more confusing. When using this option, the drawing hand appears behind the text as if it were on the other side of the glass wall. Select Create and you will be redirected to the Doodly interface

The interface is divided into several sections. The first part is the canvas that is located in the middle. You can drag and drop media here. Media can be found in the Left Panel and has five different tabs for five different types of images. The Mirror panel on the right is divided into two sections: the upper part contains the tools to reproduce the scene, and the lower part displays each multimedia element added to the canvas.

MEDIA

In Doodly, multimedia graphics are available in four main formats: scenes, characters, props, and text. They are all tabs on the left side of the screen.

Some things are the same for all types of media:

Double-click or select an item in the media list allows you to flip, rearrange, move, or resize media.

You can change the color of the element by double-clicking and then selecting the small gear icon.

Scanning Objects

Props are a unique feature of Doodly These finished photos, provide an excellent background for a long voiceover or if you switch interaction in a certain environment. Remember that "scene "is a group of elements on a specific canvas slide, and" scene object " is a type of media that can be added to a regular scene. These pictures range from the school building to the doctor's office, but you can only have one prop on the screen. So if you want to add a car or character, you have to retrieve them from the character bar or props. Unfortunately, it is not possible to search the scenes tab, although this is possible for other media. Also, you can not add your own scenes.

If you choose to add a scene object to a Doodly video From what I can tell, all scenes are available to subscribers, regardless of the subscription level.

Character

As for people and characters. Doodly has a very large library. If you have the simplest plan, you will have access to 10 characters in 20 poses. If you have a platinum or enterprise plan, you will have 30 characters with 25 poses. I tried with Doodly Platinum and there was no sign of the difference between the slot simplest and Platinum plans, so I can't say which ones.

However, the Club section is another matter. It can only be accessed if you have a platinum or Enterprise subscription, and it includes two characters, each of which is configured in 20 different ways. They are usually more specialized. As you can see above, ordinary characters sit down, write them down or show common emotions. Club characters are much more specific. There are locations This may be due to the type of film you want to film.

My overall impression of the characters is that they are very versatile and offer a wide range of locations. While a search tool might not be very useful until you understand what symbols are there, there is a wide range of options available. If you have a "Zlot piano Alternatively, you can use the blue " + " to import your project from your computer.

Underpin

The props are Doodle's inhuman or lifeless graphics. These include plants and animals, balloons and tractor logos, and like other media, can be customized and edited with a double click.

The green icons seem to indicate that the image is only for "Doodle Club ", that is, for Platinum or corporate users. When you hover over the icon, it is indicated in which month it was added. This means that Gold users have a rather limited choice compared to other Follo Foll

I've tested importing jpeg, PNG, SVG, and GIFs to see how the system handles other images. No matter what type of file you import, the program draws the import as the library images. Instead, the hand moved back and forth diagonally, gradually revealing most of the image.

Also, I accidentally discovered the image size limit (1920 x 1080) while trying to import an image that was too large. As a side note, Doodly support does not support animated GIFs. When I imported one of them, it accepted the file, but the image remained both on the canvas and in the video preview. Other whiteboard programs typically support SVG as it allows you to create a drawing outline, but Doodly sembra seems to treat all image files the same, "hiding" their existence.

Note: Doodly has a video tutorial on how to create custom drawing outlines for your photos, but it may take more effort than it's worth, especially for a complex image. It is necessary to pave the tracks manually.

Sound

When I first saw the next section, I was disappointed that only three characters were included in the program. After about half an hour I realized that I could import my fonts! This is something I haven't seen in many programs, but I appreciate this feature because it means the program doesn't come with a huge catalog of fonts that I'll never use.

If you are not familiar with importing your fonts, know that they are mostly provided in TTF files, but OTF files should also be fine. You can choose a TTF file for your favorite font from a free database like 1001 free fonts or FontSpace. In addition to standard fonts, they usually offer fonts created by an artist or other clean designs that can also be viewed. Just download the file to your computer and click the blue plus sign in Doodly

I managed to do this successfully and the font was fully functional in Doodly. This is a great hidden feature and I will definitely use it extensively if I plan on using software

Sound

The video is said to have killed the radio star, but no film is complete without a great soundtrack. Doodly offers two different slots for soundtracks: one for background music and one for VoiceOver. You can adjust the volume of these two channels so that they mix or split.

You can add multiple clips to each channel, so in theory, you could have one path for the first half of the video and another for the second half. But the clips need to be cropped in advance, since Doodly support supports only adding, moving or deleting an audio file.

Background Music

Doodly has a pretty big soundtrack library, but I wasn't too happy with most of the tracks. Finding the one you like is almost impossible without listening to them all separately(20 if you are Zloty The search bar displays songs only by indexing titles. Most of it sounds like regular music. There is also an effects section, but it contains a Mi Canzoni of full-length songs and 4-Second Songs with titles like " Hit Trailer##". I listened to some with a rather high volume and immediately regretted it when a deafening sound came out of my computer speakers.

The audio library is a good source of information if you can't find roast

Lecturer

Even if there is a channel for publishing dubbing, it can not be included in Doodly. This means that you need to use Quicktime or Audacity This is annoying because, however, it will be more difficult to talk to the video.

Drafting

Editing is the most difficult process when it comes to producing videos. You have all your materials... but now you need to add transitions, timing, scene changes, and a million other small details. There are two ways to edit videos in Doodly:

Timeline

The timeline is located at the bottom of the program interface. You can use this to capture and reorder the entire scene with drag and drop. Right-clicking on the timeline also gives you the ability to preview, duplicate and delete.

You can also open the Settings (left corner of the timeline) to change the style of the video or change the signature image.

List of media

To reorder individual items, you need to use the media list on the right side of the window. This window contains every element added to the scene, whether it's a character, props, or text (the props are displayed as individual elements).

"Duration "refers to how long it takes to draw that object, and" delay " causes the video to wait a while before it starts drawing the object.

The order of the objects in this list determines which one is drawn first, from top to bottom. This small window does not expand, so if you want to reorder, you need to gently drag the frame, one slot at a time. The best solution would be to add elements to the canvas in the order they need to be displayed to avoid this, especially if the scene contains a lot of resources.

Export / Share

Doodly software offers a more customizable way to export video: mp4.

You can choose the resolution, frame rate, and quality. The screenshot shows the default settings, but when I exported the demo I chose full HD at 1080p and 45fps. The program did not turn out to be very accurate in determining how long this process will take:

In the end, it took about 40 minutes to export the clip in less than 2 minutes, which reminds me of an equally lengthy export process with iMovie. The short clip seems to be disproportionately long and I noticed that minimizing the window seems to pause the rendering process.

The reasons for my opinions and assessments

Efficiency: 4/5

You will definitely be able to do this work with Doodly There is a large library of free images and a large library of club media if you have a Platinum or corporate membership. The softare The creation of the first film may take a little longer than expected, but once you feel comfortable, you will pump up the scenes instantly.

Price: 3/5

Although Doodly provides functionality that it claims on Theeb The cost will likely attract amateurs, individuals or teachers who can get a similar product for less, although companies are more likely to pay a few dollars more.

Rating: 3.5 / 5

Although the interface is quite simple and does not take much time, some details make it difficult to use this program with total ease. Small, not a list of media created only problems to change the order of the elements, and the timeline to scroll horizontally, to get what looks like Miles because there is no way to make labels narrower ranges. However, the program is functional and very suitable for creating good quality videos.

Support: 4/5

I was impressed with Doodly's customer service I was worried at first; there aren't many guides on their site w However, further research provided sufficient documentation when clicking on a given category.

Contacting technical support was a real adventure. The "write us" button on their site does not work, but after reading the bottom of the page, I received an email to the support team that I contacted with a simple question.

I immediately received an automatic email indicating the time of customer service, and the next day they sent a good explanatory response.

As you can see, the email was sent 18 minutes after the technical support opened during the day, so I would say that they definitely survived to solve all the problems within 48 hours, even if their contact link was broken.

EAS SK Sketch Pro includes more business marketing features such as branding, interactivity, and analytics, despite the amateur aspect of their program. Prices start at $ 37 for branded movies and $ 67 for adding your own logo.

Output

With the rise in popularity of Whiteboard Videos, You will probably want to try to create them sooner or later, regardless of whether you are a private individual or an employee of the company. Doodle porterĂ  will take you to the finish line with a large library of characters and plenty of props to help you along the way. The software has some flaws, but due to the lack of material available online associated with it, Doodle sembra seems to be a relative newcomer to the animated scene. This means that it will probably receive some updates in the future that will help it fit into competing programs.

They all work differently, so a program that works with me can't give you the same experience. Although Doodly non does not have a trial version that you can experiment with, they will refund you money for the purchase within 14 days if you are not completely satisfied. You can decide for yourself whether it is worth the full price.
